Uber (UBER) will report first quarter earnings before the bell on Wednesday, as the ride-hailing giant looks to prove its profit growth story is intact, even as its costly autonomous ambitions grow. The results arrive amid a slew of deals and product launches that have kept Uber in the headlines in recent weeks.
Uber is expected to report Q1 revenue of $13.33 billion per Bloomberg consensus, up 15% from a year ago. The company is projected to post adjusted EPS of $0.71, with EBITDA of $2.44 billion.
Uber’s gross bookings are expected to come in at $52.9 billion, up roughly 23% year over year, within Uber's guidance range of $52 billion to $53.5 billion.
Monthly Active Platform Consumers is another a highly watched metric. Last quarter it climbed to 202 million, growing 18% year over year — an acceleration from the 14% pace Uber was running at the start of 2025.
Uber has been making big moves on the robotaxi front. The company unveiled Uber Autonomous Solutions, a new business unit designed to help partners build and commercialize AV fleets on Uber's network globally.
Uber upped its commitment to the partnership with Lucid (LCID) to $500 million in April, and now owns more than 11% of Lucid Motors. Uber’s robotaxi network will use Lucid EVs and Nuro Level 4 autonomous software, all using Uber’s demand matching platform.
Uber and its fleet partners will also purchase 10,000 Rivian (RIVN) R2 robotaxis, with an option to purchase 40,000 more in 2030. Initial deployments will start in San Francisco and Miami in 2028, with plans to scale to 25 cities by 2031.
Uber’s $1.25 billion investment is subject to certain autonomous milestones, though an initial $300 million investment has been committed.
Further building out the business operations, Uber signed up Hertz's (HTZ) fleet management unit to handle the day-to-day logistics — charging, cleaning, and maintenance — when the service launches in the San Francisco Bay Area later this year.
Beyond autonomy, Uber made a notable push into travel at its annual GO–GET showcase last week. A new in-app hotel booking feature, powered by Expedia (EXPE), gives users access to over 700,000 properties globally. Uber One members earn 10% back in credits on bookings and unlock discounts at more than 10,000 hotels. The app also features AI-powered voice booking using OpenAI’s (OPAI.PVT) ChatGPT.
