Kraken Robotics’ (USOTC:KRKNF) new agreement with SEFINE SISAM centers on integrating its KATFISH sonar platform into autonomous mission systems and advancing automatic target recognition capabilities for maritime defense operations.
Kraken Robotics signed an MOU with Türkiye-based SEFINE SISAM focused on autonomous seabed warfare and mine countermeasure technology.
The agreement includes integration of Kraken’s KATFISH system into mission planning software alongside development of automatic target recognition (ATR) capabilities.
The partnership follows a successful at-sea demonstration involving Kraken’s synthetic aperture sonar and SEFINE’s unmanned surface vessel platform.
The deal may strengthen Kraken’s positioning in the growing autonomous maritime defense and underwater surveillance market.
Investors may watch for future commercial contracts, deployment milestones, and updates tied to Kraken’s expanding international defense footprint.
Kraken Robotics (USOTC:KRKNF) announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding with SEFINE SISAM during the SAHA exposition in Türkiye.
Under the agreement, Kraken will collaborate with SISAM to integrate its KATFISH synthetic aperture sonar system into mission planning software while also developing automatic target recognition functionality for Kraken’s sonar platform.
The announcement builds on a recent operational demonstration conducted off the coast of İstanbul, where Kraken and SEFINE tested the KATFISH system alongside an unmanned surface vessel launch and recovery platform aboard SEFINE’s RD-22 USV.
According to the company, the demonstration validated high-resolution detection and classification capabilities for mine-like objects and underwater infrastructure in a real-world operating environment.
“We’re pleased to continue our work with SEFINE following a successful at-sea demonstration earlier this year,” said Bernard Mills, Executive Vice President of Defence at Kraken Robotics. “This partnership poises us to rapidly develop and deliver relevant capability in a region that combines industrial excellence and operational need. Together, we are advancing fully integrated, autonomous solutions for seabed warfare and mine countermeasures—enhancing the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of maritime security operations.”
The announcement also comes as Kraken continues pursuing the acquisition of Covelya Group Limited, a transaction expected to close in the second quarter of 2026 pending regulatory approvals and customary conditions.
The agreement highlights Kraken’s continued push into autonomous maritime defense systems, an area that has seen growing strategic importance as governments increase focus on underwater surveillance, mine countermeasures, and protection of subsea infrastructure.
The integration of KATFISH into mission planning systems and the development of ATR functionality could expand the operational value of Kraken’s sonar technology for military and security applications.
The collaboration with SEFINE may also strengthen Kraken’s access to regional defense opportunities in Türkiye and surrounding markets, particularly as unmanned naval platforms become more widely adopted.
For investors, the announcement suggests Kraken is continuing to build partnerships that could support future commercialization and broader deployment of its subsea intelligence technologies.
